Granite and Formica Worktops

When you are planning a new kitchen, worktops are of paramount importance. The type style and colour of worktop can immensely change the look feel and quality of a kitchen; not to mention its longevity.
Here at Town Kitchens we cater for all budgets. For those on a minimal budget then we can supply and fit laminate worktops. Generally these are constructed from chipboard and covered in laminate.
The styles and colours vary enormously meaning that even at the low end of the price scale your kitchen can look stylish. However beware that laminate worktops can be damaged scratched and start peeling if water-damaged, and are difficult, sometimes impossible to repair.
At Town Kitchens we strongly recommend granite worktops. People think granite and automatically think expense. They are not as expensive as one might imagine. Town Kitchens pride themselves on sensible pricing for materials and appliances and granite worktops are no exception.
Granite being a natural and strong material lasts so much longer than man-made worktops. Even after several years the material can be buffed to look like new again. Granite is also waterproof and stain resistant and is very difficult to scratch.
The colours range drastically and styles are abundant. The veins and flecks of amazing colours means that a granite worktop will blend wonderfully well with any interior styling scheme.
For instance we can supply rounded corners, which is usually the choice for families with babies and young children, or profiled corner edging for the contemporary clean lines look.
As granite is cut to size, it is simple to accommodate any type of appliance, all types of sinks including Belfast sinks, and any size of kitchen.
If you are struggling to decide whether to spend the extra on a granite worktop then the key consideration is that the granite worktop makes economic sense. It may cost more but it will last so much longer than the laminated worktop. Check our worktops gallery for some ideas!
